Gunnerkrigg Court
« on: December 09, 2012, 01:25:37 AM »

From Wikipedia:

Gunnerkrigg Court is a science-fantasy webcomic created by Tom Siddell and launched in April 2005. It is updated online three days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri). and the first volume of the comic was published in print format by Archaia Studios Press and Titan Books (in the UK and Ireland). The comic has been critically acclaimed and has won numerous Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards, as well as receiving positive reviews for its artwork and storytelling.

The comic tells the story of Antimony Carver, a young girl who has just started attending a strange and mysterious school called Gunnerkrigg Court, and the events that unfold around her as she becomes embroiled in political intrigues between Gunnerkrigg Court and the inhabitants of the Gillitie Wood, a forest outside the school. The comic's style and themes include elements from science, fantasy creatures, mythology from a variety of traditions, and alchemical symbols and theories; the literary style is heavily influenced by mystery and manga comics.

The storyline is incredible, as well as the characters, and it's amazing to watch Tom's artstyle evolve and improve as the story goes on. The comic still updates three times weekly as the Wiki says. If you like fantasy at all you will enjoy this comic.

Gunnerkrigg Court is best webcomic. Ever.

I never thought I'd have so many feels involving a person made of nothing and a shadow and a robot and a crazy coyote.
ALL THE FEELS.

I don't understand

is Rey respecting Annie's wishes or is he under her control, and does he care
and are he and eglamore friends

what

Also, the whole story with Hetty was creepy.

Both.

and are he and eglamore friends
I think they might have been, before everything went to hell with Surma and Daniel and Sivo. Rereading Reynardine's introductory chapter, they do have this new 'old friends bickering' feel to their interactions I never caught before. Remember, Coyote said "Renard LOOOOVES HUMANS!" It's quite possible that Rey was friends with more than just Surma, but her entire group of friends. Jones knows him well, the Donlans are used to his presence... It seems like he and Eglamore just had an especially rough time of it in light of what happened with Daniel, who was also a friend of Rey's who he betrayed.

There's obviously a lot of history between these two. Plus they have a lot in common (what with their mutual rejection by Surma, care for Antimony, and contempt for Anthony). It would make sense that with all of that, coupled with Renard's character development and remorse, they'd be stitching up old wounds.

Plus, there's an old saying that your most bitter rivals end up being your only true friends, as no one else understands you like they do. You get a sense that Jimmy-Jims is like Rey's probation officer.

It's a very surprising twist, but it makes some sense in hindsight.

BAM. Resurrected. I regret nothing.

SO I still read this comic religiously every MWF. Is anybody else keeping up with it? Old news, but: MORT. ;_; He was the character on my button at KF. I will never get over his storyline.

As for the current story arc... was there ever an explanation as to why Kat looks that way in the ether? It's slightly confusing.

I haven't read this in years, not keeping up at all. XD I mostly just stick to Ava's Demon and Paranatural and the occasional Lackadaisy whenever we get new pages which is rare.

I would suggest catching up. It's been going in fantastic directions.

Probably because she IS the Angel that the Robots see her as. A robot's existence has already proven to have etheric means, like how they always have power (except the ones with switches?), how chips will only work in certain models (like Robot) and seem to think on their own, TicTocs being a thing, etc. Even how the Realm of the Dead accepted Diego's Mark as proof of Kat being allowed in.
I think there's more to Etheric energy that either Annie or Kat understand; Annie just has a head-first approach to it... and while Kat may deny it, she is immersed in it as well.

Zimmy, who likely sees Ether all the time, sees Kat like the Angel. Paz, with her ability to talk to animals, probably has a lot of ether energy as well, and with Zimmingham JUST there was probably enough residual energy for Paz to see Kat as the Angel?

*THROWS HANDS UP* tldr idk

I've been keeping up with it religiously and I've deeply missed commenting on the most recent pages every other weekday on the old KF thread.

It's astounding how much has happened in the story since then, really thinking about it.

I will be rereading this chapter when its done, too. It feels really fast, but at the same time, not.

Tom is a genius - I was considering being a Patreon of his when he first annouced it, but he makes a lot each month right now. XD; Have you seen his video recaps of his Chapters on his YouTube? Pretty cool stuff!
