A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin
« on: December 08, 2012, 03:34:59 AM »
A thread to discuss the wonderful books. I am a huge huge fan of this series (and the TV show which we aren't allowed to discuss the books in that thread). I'm about halfway through Book 5 and it is so so good.

Winter is coming.

Discuss.

Reading them is like an addiction once I started I couldn't stop. And it only got worse as the books went along.

I just finished book five.

spoilers (click to show/hide)AMAZING BOOK.

Things
  • Lannisters are out of the game, I mean the only real competent one left was Kevan and he's gone. Jaime has the grounds to reappear though, but he'll be alone.
  • THEY KILLED JON SNOW AND I CRIED AND CRIED. He might come back. I can see it. Most of the time when a character experiences their own "death" from their perspective they aren't actually dead.
  • I'm pretty sad Quentyn died though. I liked him, though he was quite yet ready to be kind material
  • That ending speech with Varys was pretty insightful. Aegon being raised that a king ship is his duty rather than his right. So Varys stole him away to make sure he would live to be a better king than his predecessors.
  • Dany is back in business, she has Drogo back and is at least riding him The fate of Meereen is still pretty much up in the air.

Over all the book was badass, abet the beginning was a bit slow in comparison to the end.
