I've read them all during the summer, and yes once you start reading you'll say "one more chapter" but it ends being the rest of the book :)

THG has to be my favorite book series aside from Harry Potter, they're just that amazing.

Agreed, aside from the Harry Potter series I really enjoyed this. Glad they are already shooting for Catching Fire

It's true. They're so easy to just run through. "One more chapter" just turns into finishing the whole series within a week.

These books were very good, and were also great social commentary.

I think most people can probably remember that I was absolutely obsessed with this series for a few months. I'm still in love with Peeta.

I think this averaged out to be a good series. And as Av says, they're a brisk, enjoyable read.

Also a lot funnier than I was expecting, particularly the first book I thought.

Yeah I expected it to be like serious at all times, but I'm glad Suzanne Collins is good at humor. It never felt out of place.

I love these books! I got the first one in January for my birthday, and got through all three in a month, which is a pretty big thing seeing as I take a very long time to finish a book these days. I kinda made the mistake of lending them all to my ex-fiancÚ, so I don't know if I'll be getting them back :-(

I'm... okay with the series. Most of me wishes I stopped with the first book, because that's the concept that I really fell in love with - kids fighting to the death to keep peace, the fact that people watched, how it was so controlled.

But I didn't like most of 2 or really any of 3. While I do believe both of them tied the ends that needed to be tied, it felt so... loosely done that I just wasn't satisfied with either of them.

I finally decided to pick up the damned books and give them a read, and I can't out the bloody things down! I powered through the first book in basically a day (read about 80% of it in one day after a slow start), and I am about a third of the way through Catching Fire. Granted I've always been interested in the series, as my girlfriend is a big fan and speaks rather highly of it. I'd also seen the first movie before reading, and that also sparked my interest. I also haven't seen Catching Fire yet, so the Book is all new to me. But I will admit, at times it seems like sleep is used as an easy way out to pass time, and the events can seem a bit rushed. The last 5 or so pages of the first book went by in such a blur.

But aside from those two issues, I am thoroughly enjoying them. This also happens to be the first paperback book I've read in 8 years.

It's addicting ain't it Schmitty? It's definitely not perfect, but it's a fun and intriguing read. It's thought provoking.

So I've heard from a ton of people and even critics that the Catching Fire movie was a whole lot better than Hunger Games. I liked Hunger Games, but it did have it's share of problems.
