Your Top 10 Anime
« on: July 25, 2014, 05:50:55 AM »
I only have 3

1. Ai Yori Aoshi/Enishi
2. The Secret World of Arrietty
3. To Heart 1st season

Love 'em all

As for the others I've seen... Their history in the very back of my mind and also terrible affected my mind to my heart and soul like Clannad/After Story/Movie which I just can't stand anymore except for the beautiful animation. I have my reasons why I can't stand that anime. Brings bad memories and NO, not because why I had my previous old username and I'm kinda going off topic here too a little, just forgot my the answer to the secret question of my username getting online thingy with typing the password stuff, just so you know. Yep. :| Anyways. I'm gonna watch Spirited Away really soon, REALLY. o_o; Buy it at FYI. o_o; I got a good list from dA members on anime I want to see and some looked interesting. Mmhmm. :)

In no particular order:

2. Toradora!
3. Space Brothers
4. CardCaptor Sakura
5. Chrno Crusade (also known as Chrono Crusade)
6. Kemono no Souja Erin
7. Nagi no Asukara

If we're not counting Avatar/Korra as an anime...(though some people do) then the list is as follows currently..

1). Noragami

Description: Hiyori Iki was a regular middle school student until she was hit by a bus while trying to save the life of a jersey-wearing person named Yato. This incident causes her to transform into a half-phantom. Soon after she learns that Yato is a god, her life is never going to be the same again.

It just has this element to it...I can't explain it. I've read the mangas and have just fallen in love with the entire story and its characters. It has it's serious moments as well as funny which are both perfectly balanced. The only complaint I had was that the OVA's were poorly translated and the anime was much too short (though theres a possibility of a 2nd season, though is not confirmed).
The opening is my overall fave when it comes to songs for anime though, theres no contest.

2). Fairy Tail

Surprisingly, at first glance I really didn't want to watch this anime. My fiance and his best friend were watching it and curiousity got the better of me, and i'm glad it did.
The reason I didn't want to watch it was because of the anime style. It reminded me of One Piece a little bit and no offense to OP but I just don't like that drawing style. But i'm glad my fiance
coorsed me into it because it is thoroughly enjoyable. Fun characters, fun ships to ship, nice action, and it's still ongoing. I'm always waiting for the new episodes to come out now.

3). Full Metal Panic (Fumoffu/The Second Raid)

Description:Sousuke Sagara, a seventeen year old military specialist working for the secret organization MITHRIL, has been assigned to protect the latest "Whispered" candidate Kaname Chidori. To complete this task Sousuke will have to deal with enemies from his past as well as the occasional panty thief. Unfortunately for Sousuke, the toughest part of his mission isn't only protecting Miss Chidori but also getting used to living an average High School students life, no easy task for someone raised on the battlefield.

Probably one of the funniest, quirkiest, military anime's i've ever (and probably will ever) see in my life. First seeing this anime I was like..."okay..so it's a mecha." Me, being not very partial to mecha animes was a little skeptical to watch but within the first ten minutes I knew it was an anime for me.
Sousuke Sagara and Kaname's reactions to him really made me love this anime. He's so socially inept it's comical....reminds me of myself (without all of the grenades and guns)...lol

4). Attack on Titan

My initial thought on AoT was that it was overrated...there, I said it. I'd seen a bunch of cosplaying of it at NakaKon 2014 that it just seemed too mainstream of an anime for me to watch and it kinda made me sick tbh. Though, out of curiousity I watched it and I could finally see what all the fuss was about. It was a genuinely good anime. Good opening, good action and characters.
I can give credit where credit is due and it definitely does deserve it.

5). Sword Art Online Death Note

Nothing against SAO, but my love for it has fallen to the wayside. It's an amazing anime and all but i've found a new anime for #5 and that is L....(i mean Death Note..ehhehe)
This anime really broke the barrier for me. When I was first even introduced to the name of Death Note (which was a loooong time ago) my friends told me it was more of a 'goth anime' which made me kinda not wanna see it because until recently I thought it was going to be about this emo kid who writes in a notebook (how stupid was I, right?!).

6). Spirited Away (film)

Its from Miyazaki...need I say more...

7). Kill la Kill

Can you say fanservice? I do love this anime but the fanservice was kinda distracting tbh. But that aside, the characters were likeable and the plot was solid. Plus the music is to diiiiee for!

8). Inuyasha

I've loved this anime probably the longest of any anime. It was an original, a stepping stone for other animes for me. It's a classic and still clinging a spot on my top anime because of my childhood love for it. It was one of the first animes i'd actually watched and i still love it to this day.

9). D. Gray Man Blue Exorcist

From one exorcist to another, hmm...lol
This anime really made me think about humanity in general...how people can be so selfless for others and sacrifice everything for their safety and happiness. Plus, I just loved Rin to death!

10). Inu x Boku SS

I honestly couldn't think of another anime to save my life, although this is a decent anime it wasn't even compareable to the manga. The manga was far superior but i'm glad they at least ended where they did....for my sanity's sake.

Edit: Gotta say, I've been watching anime like crazy this past month and I just got finished Death Note & Blue Exorcist and I can say that they're on my top now.
I'm so fickle with animes and I am ashamed.

oooo this is a Hard list to be sure... And I can do these in order, starting from 10 working our way down. Reasons included!

10: Dragonball Z: Abridged.

Okay so this may come as a shock, I consider the Abridged Parody series to be it's own, real legitimate series. In fact I can't even watch actual Dragonball Z anymore. The voices sound all wrong, and it just doesn't have that great chemestry that the Abridge Series does. I laugh a lot, I laugh so hard it hurts sometimes. If you aren't Watching Dragonball Z Abridged then you are missing out.

9. Samurai 7

I'm gonna come right out and say it right now, I love this anime mostly for it's animation. It's so freaking beautiful. It just makes me.. drool. I mean the characters and the Sotry are great. You really feel for the characters. ANd I enjoy the way it blends Comptuer Animated mechs with 2D animation. Seriously give this one a watch.

8. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

If you haven't watched this show.. then you need to.. and when you do... DO not fall in love with any of these characters because they will all viciously break your heart. Every single one of them. This show from start to finish is a Feels rollar coaster. I know what you're saying "But I watched the Original Fullmetal Alchemist, what's so great about this one?" uuuumm everything. The Original Fullmetall Alchemist anime was put into production waaaaaay before the Manga was ever finished.. so while th Anime startedf out liek the manga.. it quickly had to make it's own plot that made absolutely no sense in the end. This Anime Fixes those confusions and looks bad ass while doing so.

7. Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex

Speaking of Animes that Mess with your head. Let's talk about GitS:Sac. From start to Finish this anime is alwaysw a "Oh wow! So that.. and wow!" Or at least it was for me. IT seems the Major and Section 9 are always just one step behidn the actual culprit but always manages to catch someone related to the trouble.  Animation Style in this anime is beautiful as well. Also Lesbian Main Character ftw!

6. Outlaw Star

All i have to say is: Space Ships with Grappling Arms... Spaceships that freakign wrestle... IN SPACE! This isn't my only reason for liking this show. I certainly enjoyed the plot as the rag tag crew of the Outlaw Star traveled to the Leyline. I really loved the Characters. The action sequences are great, and it's Somber ending was a really nice touch.

5.Kill la Kill

What isn't there to love about Kill la Kill? It's got amazing animation, transformation sequences, a silly awesome storyline, over the top everythingness.  I just love this anime from top to bottom. DON'T LOSE YOUR WAAAAAAY!

4. Yu Yu Hakusho

SO it might be noticed now that I enjoy Action Animes. Cause I really do. Fighting Animes? even better! Yu Yu Hakusho was an amazing series that didn't get a lot of the love it deserved. Yes the 4th season got a little weird, We could have ended on Sensui and it would have been fine. But I did still enjoy the fourth season. Whole thing. I enjoyed the ending too, seemed to just really work. And the stuff Ryizen says to Yusuke at the end... pretty awesome.

3. Michiko + Hatchin

You never knew you needed an Anime about a Bad Ass POC woman kicking everybody's ass with her Daughter in tow.. until you watch this anime. ANd then you NEED IT!  THis anime is great, brought to you by the same people who made Coyboy Bebop. It has a great 70s/80s Pulp Fiction feel to it. The story flows smoothly, the art work is amazing, the characters are just.. I LOVE THEM! WATCH THIS ANIME!

2. Gurren Lagann

Everything i said about Kill la Kill.. but better. ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWA!

1. Cowboy Bebop

Greatest Anime of all time. It's important to note that this was the last Anime ever drawn completely by hand. Every line, every frame hand drawn. And the animation still holds up to this day, and it looks incredible. The Cast of characters all have a deep back story. Each episode while seemingly stand alone, paints us a bigger picture of the universe and the characters in general. The over all plot is amazingly topld. Last but certainly not least in even the slightest is the sound track for this anime.. the sound track is just... It makes it a Jazz Opera in Space. IF you haven't ever sat down and watched this anime you seriously seriously need to. It's absolutely perfect in it's 26 episodes.

Honorable Mention:  Big O

This anime was ahead of it's time! And that second season was just... Wow.. It could be that I like this anime so much because Steve Blume voices Rodger Smith. But i could also love this anime for it's action sequences, it's characters, and a twisted plot that you really had to pay attention to. This was my first -really-messes-with-your-mind anime. To this day if I'm wearing a watch, or ifi have anything around my wrist I stop at random times and shout "BIG O! IIIIIIIT'S SHoooooow Time!"

Ah Samurai 7, a really awesome series that unfortunately scarred me when I got too obsessed with it. To this day I'm still uncomfortable with it and I'm not sure if I'll ever get around to watching it again.

Okay as always sometimes a list needs updating. And mine does, like for real. Now some things will be the same. But there are new things to add

10. Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Right off hte bat let's Start strong with PMMM, like I love Magical Girl Anime. It's like one of my favorite Genres. Madoka Magica not only falls into that Genre, but subverts it entirely. Starting off as your standard Magical Girl Fare, you can tell something is slightly off the moment the plot starts happening. And When the plot swings into full effect there's really no escaping it. Yes it's gruesome, yes it's plagued by some less than great tropes. But the story, the art, the characters, all of it makes a pretty decent show that if you haven't watched you should.

9. Trigun

I recently got this one for Christmas, I mean I had seen it way before. But Rewatching it rekindled my love for the characters. It's a western, but not like many you have seen. The lone gun man wandering the wastes, trying to do what's right by all, and without  killing anyone.  It's a tale of Triumph, Hope, and desperation, as Vash sets out to make up for the sins of his past, even if he can't remember them. The art really holds up to, and the voice acting, despite being an early dub, still works well.

8. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

So I've said it once, I've said it again, I'll say it a million times more. This is the Better Fullmetal Alchemist. The first one having been commissioned for an anime long before the Manga was even ever finished. Heck the Manga finally finished in the middle of the production for this anime. And really that's what makes this one better. It's true to the story, and gives you exactly what was always intended. If you haven't seen either of them, I suggest this one to the max. The Characters are memorable, each one of them feels important and important to the story. And the story itself is such a roller-coaster of emotions.

7. One Punch Man

If I enjoy PMMM for genre subversion, it's got nothing on One Punch Man. One Punch Man is set up to be your typical Shonen fare. But quickly answers the question, what happens when your hero is already at the top? What happens when there is no one stronger. Isn't it boring the be the strongest? And the fact that Saitama doesn't even come close to the look you'd expect of an all powerful super hero, just makes it all the more better. What started out as a poorly drawn webcomic, has really come to life in animation. Something beautiful and exciting to behold.

6. Outlaw Star

Kinda what prompted me reevaluate my list is the Adult Swim/Toonami is once again showing older anime on it's Saturday Night Block. And I had to think, with all the shows I watch is Outlaw Star still even on my top ten? What else could have changed? And the fact is that Yes of course it's still on my Top Ten, even in it's same spot. How could i not love a show about Space Pirates, and magic guns, and Space Ships with Grappling arms? It's too Ridiculous for me to ignore. Too Ridiculous for me not to love.

5. Kill la Kill

Speaking of things that are still on my list. Kill la Kill! I love this show, I love it so much. Studio Trigger just does this amazing beautiful animation that's just really the best. In my mind. While also technically falling into the Magical Girl Genre, it also beautifully falls into the Shonen Genre and is basically the best of the things that i love about both. And when it's not being as SERIOUS OVER THE TOP AS POSSIBLE, it's actually quite funny.  So Seriously don't lose your way, what this anime!

4. Little Witch Academia

Speaking of Studio Trigger and the amazing work they do. Little Witch Academia is one of their newer series. And it isn't just magic girls, it's just Magical. Each character in this show is memorable, and different. The Story has this amazing set up, that is kind of slow rolling and then charges full steam away. I don't know if there is a main character I like more than Akko Kaguri, she's just so adorkable.

3. Yu Yu Hakusho

So do I like Shonen anime? Yes, yes I do. But I enjoy Shonen anime that that  heart and story. Yu Yu Hakusho is an anime that I feel doesn't get the love that it deserves. Beign overshadowed by Dragon Ball Z, as both shows began their most popular airings in America at nearly the same time. While i don't think that it was a stepping stone for Yoshihiro Togashi, you can certainly feel its influence in Hunter x Hunter.  The show is good, the animation holds up, and I love the Dub... mostly for Kuwabara's dumb voice.  The action is top notch, and as I mentioned before the 4th season is weird. But it's a good weird. If you watch this anime, and you love the Shonen Action genre you won't be disappointed.

2. My Hero Academia

While i enjoy One Punch Man for being a complete genre subversion, I love My Hero Academia for just being a Shonen Anime and loving being a Shonen anime. On top of that, SUPER HEROES! I love Super Heroes so much. And while i claim that Akko is my most beloved main character, Deku comes in at a super close second. There's just so much to talk about with this anime and I couldn't know where to start. The show also answers the question "what happens if you make every girl, the best girl?" On top of just jaw dropping animation from Studio Bones, the story is incredible to follow, and what's really nice it  manages to be one of the best Shonen anime's by avoiding common pitfalls that other Shonen anime tend to walk into. Please watch this anime.

1. Cowboy Bebop

This show never ceases to impress me. I've seen every episode at least 10 times each. All the emotions and feelings of the characters, hitting me as though I were watching it for the first time. All set to the beautiful backdrop of space and jazz. Every note accentuating the tone of every episode. The present, guided by the mysteries of the past as everything comes to a head in a brilliant finish. And while there is an over arcing plot, every episode is designed to stand alone as if a small 30 minute movie for your enjoyment.  I don't know if there will ever be an anime as brilliantly done, and as masterfully executed as Cowboy Bebop. And it's one of those few times, if only times that the English Dub is absolutely better then the original Japanese cast, and I don't even mean that in a nostalgic way. And all by crazy happenstance, everythign came together to make the perfect 26 episode show. If there is one show from my list that you should watch, it's this one.

See you Later Space Cowboy
