Just saw it. Wow, I'm super impressed, it was really fantastic, loved it. Very cute, very funny, and the things they did with the ice was stunning. Honestly I think this movie came out better being computer animated rather than if they were traditionally animating it.

My only thought is that I found the climax of Tangled to be a lot stronger and more powerful emotionally, but that may have been because I was a little confused about a couple things. I probably need to watch it again to really see the beauty of it.

Of course that being said I found the music in Frozen to be a whole lot better than Tangled. I dunno, I just felt that certain things about the songs were more like older Disney movies. If I could explain it, it would be that the lyrics were better, more clever and not as generic. I loved the songs of Tangled, but some of the songs or lyrics felt as I said, a little generic (mostly the reprise of "When Will My Life Begin" and "I See The Light") at times. And maybe a little too modern. I would say that most of the Frozen songs were more like the best ones of Tangled, like "Mother Knows Best" and "I Have a Dream".

And I finally understand why "Let It Go" was so popular. Like I knew Frozen was a musical but I was wondering why I never heard about any other song besides Let It Go. I thought maybe they weren't very good. But it wasn't actually that they weren't good, they were, but Let It Go blew the movie out of the park. And it's relatable. Although First Time In Forever was pretty close, both the original and reprise.

The animation for Frozen was amazingly well done! And yeah, Let It Go was so popular because it's a catchy song and Idina Menzel's vocals are stunning and the animation for that scene was so beautiful and the list goes on. XD As for the climax, I thought both Tangled and Frozen had pretty strong, emotionally powerful ones, but that's just me. XD But, I loved Frozen's twist on "true love." I think it's a refreshing change from the standard prince saves princess story line...not that those were bad. ^^'

And I agree on the computer animation. I didn't have any opinion on the computer animation when it came out, but after seeing the movie, I'm glad they did. I'm sure they could've done a wonderful job with the traditional animation too, but the computer animation was top notch...or at least I thought so. And it worked really well in Tangled, so I wasn't upset to see it in Frozen. The crew did an amazing job (on both movies!) because sometimes, the characters seem like real people and not just 3D computer animated people, heehee!

I also really liked the twist on "true love" especially as a OUAT fan, I just got a little lost so I'll probably like it more the second time I saw it. I dunno, maybe I was hoping for a little more impact and Elsa actually talking and apologizing for shutting her sister out instead of just hugging her. I do love how it was family love that brought Anna back though instead of romantic love's kiss.

I just think that while hand drawn animation can be absolutely spectacular, especially nowadays, there really are things that computer animation can do better. I think the ice animation was just so much more spectacular in computer animation, and I just don't believe it would've been nearly as impressive otherwise. I love hand drawn animation, I mean I'm a huge supporter of anime after all, but there are just some things computer animation does better. The fact that with the technology we have now it can not only look realistic, but it can even feel improved and look more shiny than the real world.

I feel the same way about Tangled, I mean the things they were able to do with her hair were phenomenal.

Yeah, the "true love" twist was great! And I agree about the computer animation for the scenery. I'm sure the traditional technique would've been wonderful, but I think the computer animation went perfectly with this film.

And I read somewhere that Elsa's hair had a lot more threads to animate or design (or whatever the proper term is; I'm not an animator, hehe ^^') than Rapunzel's which I found kind of odd, because Rapunzel had 70 feet of hair (or something like that) and Elsa didn't. Still, just food for thought. XD

And, in my opinion, Frozen is just as great the second (or second hundreth) time around, as was Tangled. ;)

Really? That's kinda weird. It didn't seem like it would be that hard to animate Elsa's hair. I mean they had to create a new program or machine just for Rapunzel's hair.

I don't doubt that, it's certainly a movie I could watch over and over again.

I'll see if I can find the source. XD But yeah, they said Elsa's hair had 400,000 threads or something and Rapunzel's had 120,000 or something. Elsa's hair is thicker, but Rapunzel's is so much longer, so I found it puzzling, but they both have such beautifully animated hair! XD

I think it's the difference between long individual hairs, and a giant mass of complicated and intricate works of hair. Rapunzel's hair is a challenge on a technical level in attempts to get the physics working well for hair of that length, making it look like natural hair and making it move in a realistic way. Elsa's hair is a challenge on a technical level because there was so much intricate detailing, and they had even the tiniest stray strands sticking out from the braid, and they basically went all out on ensuring that if you froze the frame and looked at it in high-def, you would see absolutely every strand of hair on her head, even the tiny little ones on the ridges of her eyebrows.

It's also possible that after perfecting the soft/hardware on Tangled and Brave, working on the hair in Frozen was just significantly easier due to the learning curve.

True and that's possible! Here's the source, by the way. And apparently, Rapunzel only had 27,000 threads and not 120,000 like I said. ^^'
