"Light" - A Short Waava Drabble (K)

Title: Light
Author: Me :l
Rating: K
Summary: A little drabble about what Raava learns about Wan.

"Light" (click to show/hide)One thing Raava learned about Wan during their travels was that he brought light where ever he went.

Most of the ways he did this were very small, and they were things that simply came naturally to him. He didn't have to think about them, he just did them because that's how he was.

She saw light in the way he always made sure Mula had something to eat before he did.

She saw light in the way he looked at the world around him with pure delight and wonder. Sometimes he would stop and just stare at a scene or landscape. He would exclaim to Raava how beautiful it was. She had never thought much of the world before, as she had seen so much of it already. But he made her stop and really appreciate it for the first time.

She saw light in the real, genuine kindness he showed to everyone he met, from the youngest child to the village elder.

She saw light in the way he laughed, and the way he smiled, and she even saw light in his sadness, because no matter how grim the situation they encountered, he radiated optimism and he always found a way to right any wrong.

She saw light in how he never, ever gave up. He never gave up on himself, and even as Raava grew smaller and smaller, he never gave up on her, either.

Raava had spent so many years with her only company being darkness. She never imagined how much better things could be when you were shown a little light.

I never thought about Raava only having Vaatu as a companion for all of those years.  That’s very interesting.

This is a nice, short, snapshot travelogue of how Raava sees Wan.  I really like that.  Wan “lives” the light.  That has to be really encouraging for Raava—a kindred spirit, literally.

Thanks for writing this, Water!  Say, by the way, I have been meaning to ask: what is it about Wan and Raava that hold your interest so?

EVERYTHING @_@

It took a couple of rewatches for it to really grow on me and at first I didn't like how she treated Wan early on (she was so condescending towards him). But I loved the gradual appreciation she developed for him as she saw how kind and selfless he really was, and by the end of the episodes you could tell how much she really valued him as a person and a companion. It was just so well done askjdkasjhdkah *dies everywhere*

(bobblenods)  She was condescending to him, starting out.  And that most certainly did change over time.

Thanks.  :D
