Episode 306: The Avatar and the Firelord
« on: July 23, 2013, 02:30:46 AM »
Easily one of the best episodes. I like any episode or scene that emphasizes the parallel stories of Zuko and Aang. Also, with the story of Roku and Sozin, it teaches two valuable lessons. The first, I must make a nod to Dumbledore: "It's our choices, Harry, that makes us who we are. Not our ancestry." Then Iroh's life lesson to Zuko was very powerful and DW makes a good point about him giving Zuko the silent treatment until this episode. He wanted Zuko to live with the pain of his bad decision for a while, to feel that there was no going back, then he showed him that there was a path to redemption, to real redemption. Giving him the headpiece of the Crown Prince also was pretty much saying: "Your future and the future of the Fire Nation is in your hands. You must choose where to take it."

This episode is remarkable for its animation especially. I love the storyline and the filling in of background information (yuss). But out of every episode, they all have a unique and individual feel for them when it comes to the animation, and this one is my favorite of them all. *applauds*

This episode was easily one of the best of the series.

Dat music, dat animation, dat direction were all phenomenal. It had that cinematic feel to it, and it took itself seriously, something I think this show didn't do enough of at times. This episode is my response to 'B--but isn't that some dumb kid show?".
