Secrecy of the Wizarding World (Harry Potter)

Personally, I don't see much harm in the muggles knowing about the Wizarding world in this modern era. Most people in the world are more accepting of those who are "different" than they were back a few decades ago. Sure, you'll have your prejudiced types but I think they'd be in the minority. I know that you have your theocratic governments but it would be on them to explain to their muggle citizens the Wizarding population.

Its kind of a weird situation really. Like, one thing that stands out to me would be law enforcement/laws. It seems it would be difficult for muggle law enforcers to deal with rogue wizards so would we be looking an integrating the two worlds or simply having them separate (like different countries) but they're aware of each other?

The Prime Minister did know about the Minister of Magic and the Ministry, though; probably a few other top officials did as well. So, the worlds, at least to the leaders, aren't completely unaware of each other, just the normal citizens. It does prove to be difficult to keep their world a secret from the Muggles, especially with the war going on.

I'm sure in this day and age, however, more people would be likely to be okay with hearing about this other world full of magic (I know I would). But I guess I'm unsure about the secrecy law being uplifted because it has strong reasons to both sides as to why it would be a good idea to reveal the Wizarding World or not.

What if Harry Potter as a series is a way of telling us but we haven't seemed to figure it out yet, and a bunch of wizards are just snickering at us?

I think that would be seriously interesting though, Harry just having a book series written about his life. Considering the timeline, it makes perfect sense for the books to be written when they were, since the events of the entire series concluded (in said timeline) before the real life year when the first book was published. It's almost like the entire series is a cleverly written biography of the most famous wizard alive.

Not really related, but I honestly hate when a book ends with the character writing their own biography and say 'and its the book you've just read!' That happened with this book about this really smart baby and I was so mad.

If anything it would be JK Rowling being like a mediator/ambassador of the Muggle-Wizarding worlds and getting the story of the century out to everyone as a way of both alleviating fear and prejudice and making it easier if the Muggle world has to be let in on it in the future.

It makes sense since Voldemort nearly destroyed Europe without nearly any muggles having a clue as to what was happening. It would be far easier to sort through these situations in the future if we already knew about it since the fantastic story from the inside took the world by storm.

That could also be the reasoning for the story's massive success, to ensure the success of that objective.

... Assuming that our world were to be worked into the story.

It's all perfect really, and JK Rowling is brilliant for setting it all up like that.
