^ Yup. I'm truly excited for this new book. New gorgeous settings. A new story. More spirituality. Less expectations. Wordlbuilding. Flashbacks.

Yeah. I'm watching the hell out of this XD

I will never understand people who watch Avatar for some sense of old world spirituality. Even ATLA was always supportive of progress and wasn't really all that tied up in its own spirituality.

Just the very fact that Aang was an airbender automatically makes ATLA more spiritual. It's such a big part of his personality; spirituality is present every time Aang was on screen. There's no way LoK could have that, especially with Korra being described as the opposite of Aang.

ATLA Keeper of: On Ji's bangs, Ty Lee's love of pink, Ty Lee's aura, Ty Lee's flirting skills, and Ty Lee's eyes
LoK Keeper of: Pabu, Ikki's Spazziness, Lin's Badassness, Korra's rage face, all of the jazzy tunes

I can't speak for others, but I'm certainly watching Book 2 and I intend to enjoy it! After all, as mentioned before, Bryke and the whole animation team worked really hard to bring this all to us, so I can't not watch it (but that's just me). ^^'

For me, each season of ATLA got better and better, with Korra topping them all. Bryke keeps improving so there's no reason for me not to watch it.

I'm gonna be all over it like white on rice.

Like a fly on the kipper.

Like a fruit pie on an Air Nomad elder with Aang and Gyatso in the vicinity, failing to look innocent.
The best posts I ever made were the ones I didn't make.

I don't think there's a single person active at the time who doesn't remember Qin Shi Huang XD

Best analogy!

I don't see anything wrong with people who aren't going to watch the second season if they didn't find the first season pleasant, I suspect that's only a few handful though. I think it's more like people like me who were critical of LOK's first season hope for some change in the second season, but we're not excepting it or expecting to be wowed. I'll definitely be watching the second season, but I'm going in with a very little expectation.

Who/what is Qin Shi Huang?

He was a poster on ASN who really liked spewing off Chinese history, and since Korra had almost zero ancient Chinese influences he was very critical of the show. He basically used that as a platform to say that current Western development is a stain on the planet and we should all return to the time of ruling warlords and feudalism.

He was great.

Whenever I make harsh, sweeping statements about the fandom I'm generally channelling some infamous former-ASNer.

And I understand this and think its perfectly fine to think that the writing for LOK needs some adjustments, because Bryke aren't perfect writers, no writer is, so there were bound to be some flops that the fans wouldn't like, but the best thing to do about that is not dwell on it, and move past those mistakes. The show has gotten picked up for 40 more episodes and that's room for improvement. So when some of them fans bash them for not writing the series better, keep in mind that that they're doing this for us and did the best they could.
