I hope so! It'd be nice to see something that followed the show more closely but that could still stand on its own. ^-^

Maybe in the future someone will take the liberty to restart it with the first movie again but much more truer to the show.
I wish the same.

You know maybe if you asked me to do it a little nicer instead of making it seem like some order, I'd actually be willing to do it. All I ask is a little kindness in your request. Because you often come off incredibly rude.

To this day, I'm still not really sure what I thought of the movie.

I've said something along these lines in at least one or two places before, but here goes once more. At the most basic of levels, it was a passable short retelling of Book 1. However, this and the elaborate effort to have the costumes be true to the show are literally the only things that separate this from Dragonball Evolution in terms of how many levels of butchering-the-source-material bad. And even then it falls flat when you look at the details. I could understand if the names were the only problem, as they for the most part (I stress the most part because otherwise I know I'll be getting a reminder about "Agni Ki") were intended to be the same names with a more traditional Eastern pronunciation. However, as you guys mentioned. That wasn't even the half of it.

The most the movie tried to capture the actual magic of the show regarding the dynamic between the characters was, somebody buzz me if I got this wrong, some outtake where Jackson (Sokka) either chased or tackled Nicola (Katara) on the set once and when she asked him what he was doing he said getting into character or something. That's right. In a moment of randomness, this guy got Sokka more than the people behind the movie got any of the main trio.

And the bending…oh, God, the bending. They really handcuffed themselves with the bending. And I don't even mean how standard fare in that department takes Sailor Moon transformation sequence levels of time and complexity to perform. I'm talking about how the minute they said firebending requires a nearby source, they immediately turned the entire premise of the story from "Fire Nation imperial power terrorizes the world for 97 years" (because the real life child actors couldn't stay the same age through the planned trilogy, they made the remaining time three years instead of three seasons), to "Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes are conquered for being ASS-SLOTHFUL BUMS for 97 years."

I went into the movie fully knowing things would be changed, and I was actually excited for that, but the movie was just plain bad IMO. Katara and Sokka becoming supporting characters with zero development is an absolute no. Yue should not be more important than them. Sokka wasn't even funny. The biggest disappointment was how much potential this movie had; it totally failed to live up to it.

I could barely make it through.  The only thing that kept me going was hoping that it would somehow get better...I couldn't believe a movie based on such an awesome show could be so awful.

I always think of this when I'm reminded of the movie.  Lol:

It was bad. Yup, this is the only halfway good word i can find for it. It sure is not easy to put the whole season one in this first movie, but they did everything wrong. More or less pretty effects do not make a good movie, even if they think that. There was no good acting, many important things from the show where missing or wrong and even the main character Aang...turned into an emo kid. Yeah, thumbs up for this beautiful change! Not even one actor looked close to the person he or she should represent. Thankfully there will be no more Avatar movies, so these people cannot bring any more shame over this show.

I went in with an open mind and only made it through half the movie. I had no idea what was going on. It was just a huge guessing game. and the Actors were terrible IMO. Katara was emotionless, Sokka wasn't funny, Iroh wasn't Iroh! I think M. Night was trying to make it more serious. But you can't do that with a CARTOON.

In related news, It won a Golden Raspberry for Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3D.

I think you can make a cartoon serious, just not ATLA. Taking away the funny moments eliminates one of the biggest factors that makes ATLA so great-the silly/stupid humor amidst the seriousness.

Watched this movie before the series, at first I didn't mind but when I watched the show I totally wanted to vomit

Perhaps Mr. Shyamalan got some advice from the (imagine extremely sarcastic voice) esteemed and very talented Ember Island Players. I find it likely he did.

I would take an EIP movie version over The Last Airbender any day.

Agreed. As bad as EIP was, the actors were truer to the characters than this movie.

Yeah, at least they showed some life.

In the end EIP was really just a huge exaggeration of the characters. It wasn't all that off from the characters canon personalities. It was so bad that it was good. As for the movie, the characters were so far off in personality and looks, you can't even call them the same characters really. EIP was trying to be bad, the movie was not.

EIP is a freaking masterpiece compared to this movie.
