Spruce's Sprucey Kitchen
« on: April 23, 2013, 12:29:58 AM »
So I've made cooking videos before:

Stuffed Shells
Spaghetti and Marinara Sauce with sausage

So I figure, let's take requests. Ask away with a dish you'd like to see me do.

Rules:
-I reserve the right to move you down the queue if I have to learn the dish first.
-I also reserve the right to refuse on the grounds that I have to eat it, and I don't like it (this should be exceedingly rare)
-At best, I'll be able to do one per weekend. No guarantees I'll get one every weekend. You'll just have to be patient.
-Tell me the dish and feel free to get specific with certain ingredients, or methods you'd like to see.

That said, fire away.

1. 1911cowboy: Meatloaf
2. Bacon Mac and Cheese Pie: Chaos
3. Boy Scout Camping Trip Breakfast: Edwin Hubble
4. Baking/Alfredo: Waterlady

3 things. The spaghetti link is broken (just thought I would let you know), You are a pretty awesome dude, and could you make some sort of meatloaf? It doesn't really matter what kind. I just like meatloaf. (If you want a specific recipe I'll give you one.

Thread not dead! But I gotta be upfront and honest when I screw up.

My apologies, especially to Chaos: I made a big batch of homemade mac and cheese (is there any other appropriate size for a batch of mac and cheese?), and ate it all over all over the course of like, two weeks (using the freezer, of course)...and completely forgot that I need it for the next request :(. Now I am entirely too mac and cheese'ed out to choke down any more until I get a rest from it ;_;.

But I promise I'll make more as soon as I can stomach it, and film it all to include putting it in a pie crust and topping with bacon lattice (which admittedly sounds like it will probably be fantastic once my mac and cheese craving comes back). Many thanks for your patience :).

These are awesome, Spruce! I didn't see the originals, but now I'm caught up. And the meatloaf episode was great! Your process is similar to my recipe! :D

I would love to see you try something a little different if you're up for it and try your hand at lumpia! (One of my absolute favorites!)

Spruce, that looks SO yummy! I need to try this spin on an old classic. And worcestershire sauce in the cheese sauce? Huh! I've never added that ingredient before in my regular recipe, but it sounds good. Great video, as always! These are great! *joins chaos in wanting you to cook us many foods of epic delicious* ;D

Thanks all!

Worcestershire sauce is indeed a great secret ingredient for a cheese sauce, learned form my mother. I suspect she got the idea from the English dish Welsh Rabbit (beer cheese sauce on toast), from her travels in her younger days.

And a TKC cook-out at Spruce's? Oh, if you insist ;). Reminds me of when I had to improvise Spaghetti Carbonara for an entire ski cabin of 20-somethings on a New Hampshire weekend ski trip. Still not sure how I pulled that one off XD.

Baking

In hindsight, I should have done this earlier so I could have brought the baked goods over to Water, who requested it in the first place ;_;. Sorry Water, hopefully it's a good vid anyway.

i tried to find something light for a new suggestion (it was originally going to be irish stew, which if you want, you could also do, or instead of this) but here's a new thing to try. it sounds deliciious

I'll have to take those suggestions under consideration after I do the scheduled "Water tribe Noodles" episode, thanks :)!

Couple notes:

-I added a little salt and Japanese seaweed condiment to my bowl.

-This dish is great if you like the taste of seaweed from sushi.

-Making noodles from scratch takes awhile.
